Argos takes Kennedy Cabinets for Hand Drying

Argos, the UK's leading multi-channel retailer has selected the Kennedy Integra cotton roller towel cabinet for installation into the washrooms of its impressive new Argos Direct distribution centre.

The cabinets which are being put through their paces by the 800 strong staff at Marsh Leys, Kempston, Bedford, were supplied by FPS Matting & Washroom Services.

Explains David Melleney, Facilities Manager of Argos Direct: "We were uncertain as to which hand drying solution to go for. Hot air dryers were too slow for our busy washrooms and not the most hygienic of choices, while paper towels were a non-starter due to the mess they can create."

The problem was solved with the installation of 18 Kennedy cotton roller towel cabinets. David Barrett, Sales Director of FPS explains his reason for recommending this solution for Argos: "Choosing the right dispensing system for a customer is important as it can make a big difference. Our objectives were as always, to provide a cost efficient and effective solution to reduce waste and in turn save money."

He continues: "With a high number of staff visiting the washrooms, Argos was looking for a fast, clean and efficient alternative to hot air dryers. Cotton towels are not only effective but also rank number one in the speed stakes at an average 8 seconds to dry hands. Only one portion of cotton towel is needed to dry hands effectively so consumable costs are reduced. Used portions of towel remain in the cabinet, another plus for Argos, no need for large disposal bins thus space optimisation and easy maintenance for a clean and tidy washroom environment. As for this specific cabinet, Kennedy's Integra has a long history of reliability and an impeccable pedigree. We felt 100% confident to install the product with a prestigious customer such as Argos."
